O'Briens
and Parks to Highlight July TBC Convocation on Missions
Bill
and Dellanna O'Brien, two famous names in Baptist life, along
with Keith Parks, will highlight the annual TBC Convocation to
be held in Dallas, July 20-21, 2001. The theme of the convocation
is Texas Baptists and Missions--Looking Toward the Future.
Dellanna
O'Brien, long-time director of the Women's Missionary Union of
the Southern Baptist Convocation, will open the convocation as
our banquet speaker on Friday evening, July 20, at 6:00 p.m. O'Brien
will speak on Christian Women in the 21st Century.
Bill
O'Brien, former vice-president of the SBC Foreign Mission Board,
will be the breakfast speaker on Saturday morning, July 21, at
7:30 a.m. O'Brien's message is entitled 21st Century Missions:
Global and Apostolic.
Keith
Parks, former President of the SBC Foreign Mission Board and later
Coordinator of Global Missions for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship,
will be the closing speaker for the convocation on Saturday morning.
Parks' message is entitled Missions: One Way - Many Ways.
The
entire program features outstanding speakers. On Friday evening,
Dellanna O'Brien will be followed by Ron Cook, vice-chair of TBC
and pastor of First Baptist Church, Brownwood. The concluding
speaker Friday evening is Paul McBride, pastor of Friendship Baptist
Church, The Colony.
Other
speakers Saturday morning will be Charles Johnson, pastor of Second
Baptist Church, Lubbock and Dennis Harris, an evangelist and president
of Lifeline World Missions. Rev. Harris' web page, which describes

A

forms for the banquet ($23) and the breakfast ($14) are printed
on page 23.
Special
music will be provided Friday evening by the The Friendship Baptist
Church Male Chorus and on Saturday morning by Larry Ford.
