Jimmy Carter
Helps Traditional Baptists

Former President Jimmy Carter, America's most
well know Baptist layman, has joined efforts with Texas Baptists
Committed and the traditional Baptist movement nationally. He
has personally written a letter expressing his feelings and support
for traditional Baptist principles. The president's letter along
with a tape of Charles Wade's talk to the BGCT staff in June after
the SBC met and revised the Baptist Faith and Message Statement,
is being mailed to every person on our mailing list.
It was a great honor to meet with President
Carter and his wife, Rosalyn, in their home in Plains, Georgia,
and share with him the exciting things happening in Texas and
across Baptist life. We are pleased he wanted to lend his support
to our efforts.
I hope each of you will read his personal letter
carefully and listen to Dr. Wade's tape. Make copies of the tape
and letter and give them to your friends. Finally, do everything
possible to be in Corpus Christi for the BGCT annual meeting on
Oct. 30-31, 2000.
