CO-CHAIR
THOUGHTS
FROM RUDY
SANCHEZ
The annual meeting of the Hispanic Baptist Convention is a work of cooperation between Hispanics and all others that make up the Texas Baptist family. It is an excellent work that we accomplish together. “United in Christ” is more than a theme, it is a working reality among us. We rejoice that we are seeing the various elements of God’s hand at work with Texas Baptists. About 2,000 people will attend in Wichita Falls. They will sense the presence of God in worship, as well as, how we reach decisions together. It is our prayer that the outside world will see how we serve our Savior and be convinced that we are one in Christ. Great preaching, music and a variety of excellent conferences will be featured. Music during the worship sessions will be different and fresh. Great preaching, music and a variety of excellent conferences will be featured. Music during the worship sessions will be different and fresh. New praise choruses “Cantos de Alabanza” and “ALELUYA! Songs of Praise” cassettes will be for sale. Dr. Margarita Trevino will lead a conference on “Transforming Your Family,” as an integral part of the Woman’s Missionary Union section. The wonderful music of the Men’s Chorus will be led by Mr. Javier M. Rios. Mr. Ruden Cancino will give a report about experiences of ministry in the midst of natural disasters. Flooding and storm damage have become times of splended cooperation among our brethren. The Youth Convocation shall also carry a theme similar to that of the convention, “Coming Together…One God.” A special concert for the youth will feature the singing group, “Bomfog.” This should propel the great group of youth in to the next century in a resounding fashion. One conference is for a unique group of young people, “PK’s” (Preacher’s Kids). They will share common experiences of being raised in the home of a minister. Mr. Max Duncan will lead a conference in “Reaching Youth and Singles through Cell Groups.” The Faith Baptist Church in Wichita Falls is commended for hosting some of the sections of the convention such as the Pre-Convention Rally. The President, Dr. Rudy Camacho, layman member at Calvario Baptists Church, Fort Worth, will preside and be assisted by other officers. I also want to invite everyone to attend the Texas Baptists Committed annual convocation in San Angelo, July 16-17. As Co-Chair of TBC along with Jerold McBride, I will assist in presiding. Ellis Orozco will be preaching along with an excellent program of speakers. David Currie has asked me to extend a very special and personal invitation to all Hispanics to join with us in San Angelo. It is also an experience of great unity. The annual meeting of the Hispanic Baptist Convention is a work of cooperation between Hispanics and all others that make up the Texas Baptist family.
