Vote for These BGCT Leaders:
Russell H. Dilday, former president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Jaclanel McFarland, a laywoman from South Main Baptist church, Houston; and Ed Hogan, pastor of Jersey Village Church, Houston; will be nominated as officers of the Baptist General Convention of Texas at the annual convention in Houston, November 9-10, 1998. Opposition of Officers Expected According to a "Baptist with a Mission" newsletter it appears that Dilday, McFarland and Hogan may be opposed as officers of the BGCT. The publication asks its readers "to elect a conservative, evangelical" slate of officers who will "make like-minded appointments to the boards." It also recommends bringing fundamentalist resolutions on abortion and homosexuality to the floor of the convention. TBC encourages its supporters to be in Houston for the BGCT and to be on guard.
