AN INTERESTING OUTLINE OF GALATIANS

John Field, a member of First Baptist Church, Arlington, sent us the following outline of the letter to Galatians and what it tells us about the tactics of fundamentalists. We found it interesting.

The letter to Corinth represents a refutation, by Paul, against human wisdom which produced a highly liberal form of Christianity. In contrast, Galatians was written to refute the Judaisers who wanted to make Christianity an arm of Jewish Fundamentalism.

1. Fundamentalists define the Gospel to suit themselves. (1:6-9).

2. Fundamentalists denigrate the messengers of the gospel with ad hominem' attacks. (1:10-12)

3. Fundamentalists use the errors of the well intended to hypocritically attack all. (2:1-14).

4. Fundamentalists define righteousness such that they are the only righteous. (2:15-21).

5. Fundamentalists make their relationship to God their exclusive property. (3:1-29).

6. Fundamentalists enslave their followers under their trusteeship. (4:1-11).

7. Fundamentalists turn the love of the brethren into hatred and isolate their followers from those who disagree. (4:15-17).

8. Fundamentalists deny the existence of freedom in order to enslave many. (4:21-31).

9. Fundamentalists insist on conformity (circumcision) and the signing of constrictive statements about one's faith, they isolate their followers and burden the fellowship. (5:11-6:5)

10. Fundamentalists make a big show of what they insist are absolute answers. (6:12).
