JUDGE PRESSLER TO TRY AGAIN

Paul Pressler, the self-acknowledged leader of the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention, has vowed that he will be involved turning out the fundamentalist vote in Houston next year.

Pressler attended the meeting of Southern Baptists of Texas on Monday evening of the convention and said the following:

“I am not willing to give up every Texas institution until we lose… We will work to get messengers next year in Houston.” Pressler predicted victory.

Pressler also criticized The Baptist Standard calling it the “Baptist Slander.”

Pressler was reportedly the main person responsible for the firing of former Baptist Press employees Dan Martin and Al Shackleford. He also led the effort year after year to defund the Baptist Joint Committee while serving on the SBC Executive Board.

Our files are full of quotes of Paul Pressler through the years and we will share many of these with you in the coming year. One of the more interesting statements he made was to a Houston TV station on December 4, 1986. Pressler said: “The problem we have had in the convention is that over 90% of Southern Baptists are Conservatives, and we have had institutions that have been maintained by Southern Baptist money that have undermined the very basis of authority that Christians have believed all the generations. I am talking about scripture… when they do not believe that scripture is the Word of God we have no basis for authority. And we have a number of our institutions that were completely devoid of people who believed traditional Christian beliefs.”

Now Paul Pressler wants to control our BGCT institutions. You can expect to hear and read many more such statements that are TOTALLY FALSE! At TBC, we do not believe for one minute that our BGCT institutions have faculty that do not believe the Bible is the Word of God, and we are prepared to challenge every lie with the truth. If Judge Pressler wants to invest a year of his life demeaning the BGCT, we are prepared to accept the challenge. WE believe in our BGCT leadership and institutions and we will not allow lies to go unchallenged.
