WHY THE TBC BREAKFAST IS ON TUESDAY?

Often we are asked why our annual breakfast in on Tuesday, after the elections for officers of the BGCT, rather than Monday, when we could rally supporters for the elections?

The answer is simple. The BGCT Executive Board requested several years ago that no political meetings be held prior to the annual meeting. We have and will continue to honor that request.

Rick Scarborough wrote in the Texas Baptist that the BGCT changed its schedule to Monday in order to try and stop him from starting a Monday evening pastor’s conference. I doubt that had anything to do with the change.

I do know the pastor’s conference is a fundamentalist political meeting used to rally support for their candidates and issues.

I do know the pastor’s conference, which was started by Rick Scarborough, meets in violation of the BGCT Executive Board’s request.

I do know our annual breakfast will continue to be a time of fellowship and inspiration and will continue to meet after the elections as the Executive Board requested. I hope to see you all there to hear Bill Moyers.
