Cynthia Clawson To Sing At TBC Convocation TBC Convocation May 31-June 1 Ramada Hotel, Downtown Fort Worth According to Billboard magazine, Cynthia Clawson is “the most awesome voice in gospel music.” She has won a Grammy and five Dove awards. Music critics say she is one of contemporary music’s most gifted singers. But to many Texas Baptists she is a Christian artist who strums the heartstrings of the soul. Cynthia Clawson uses more than an expressive voice with a nearly four octave range to deliver a song. She uses sweeping gestures, hand motions, facial expressions to communicate the ideas in each musical piece. Cynthia is difficult to classify since she is a consummate stylist who is at home with church hymns, jazz, country, pop, and styles as varied as Gregorian chants and Appalachian music. Her most recent work has been a return to the music of her childhood. Clawson was born and reared in southwest Texas, the daughter of a Texas Baptist preacher. She grew up on country and Southern gospel music. She is a wife and mother who has been faithful to her calling as a disciple of Christ with a specific ministry in music. During the TBC Convocation she will sing during the programs and will give a full length concert on Friday evening at 9:00 p.m. Known for singing from her heart, Cynthia can make your spirit soar and touch your soul.
