Davenport will be nominated by long time friend Grayson Glass, Director of Missions of the Gulf Coast Baptist Association. “I have been friends with Charles Davenport a long time,” Glass said, “and I respect him greatly. Charles Davenport has been active in every phase of convention work. He is committed to our purpose as a Baptist organization. I have worked side-by-side with him for years, and think he is an outstanding person and believe he will make an outstanding vice president.” Davenport has served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Tulia, south of Amarillo, for 20 years. He was baptized, licensed, and ordained in Amarillo. He holds an undergraduate degree from West Texas State University in Canyon, and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
