TBC TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL CONVOCATION Texas Baptists Committed will hold its second annual convocation on June 3-4, 1994 in San Antonio. The convocation theme is “Servant Leadership.” It will be held at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk North, located at 110 Lexington Avenue (across from First Baptist Church). A special room rate of $75 (1-4 persons per room) is available to attendees of the convocation. Call 1-800-288-3927 to make reservations (identify yourself as being with Texas Baptists Committed). RESERVATIONS NEED TO BE MADE BY MAY 4 TO GUARANTEE THIS RATE. The convocation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, June 3 and conclude on Saturday at noon. There are several meetings Friday afternoon for Texas Baptists Committed Board members. Confirmed speakers for the Convocation include Dr. Herbert Reynolds, President of Baylor University; Rev. Martus Miley, pastor of River Oaks Baptist Church in Houston; Dr. Dick Maples, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bryan; Dr. Daniel Vestal, pastor of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston; Dr. Ramiro Pena, layman from Temple; Mrs. Amelia Bishop, former president of the Texas WMU; Mr. Mike Carraway, a layman from Southland Baptist Church in San Angelo; and Dr. Doug Ezell, Director of Pastoral Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Hospital. There will also be a new feature to this years meeting. There will be a preconvocation seminar on Thursday, June 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for clergy members led by Dr. Doug Ezell and Dr. Myron Madden.
