NOTE ON EDITORIAL POLICY

Occasionally someone will call and ask if an article published in our newsletter is the "official" position of Texas Baptists Committed on a particular theological or social issue.

I always inform them that we do not have any official positions on anything except traditional Baptist principles like the authority of scripture, local church autonomy, the priesthood of all believers and religious liberty. We are not real specific on those things as we believe individual Baptist believers and congregations have a right to apply these principles.

This newsletter is a good example. There are several articles written by a variety of people. I am not sure I agree with some of what they wrote. They are simply articles and opinions that made me think. They do not claim any "official" status on any issue.

What goes in the newsletter is my decision alone. The buck stops with me and no one else. I include articles that make me think and that I hope make our readers think about what their faith means to them, about what it means to be a Baptist Christian in America, etc.

This newsletter is intended to be a "thought provoker and information provider," and nothing more. If you disagree with an article, toss it aside. Do not assume the article is anything more than what it is -- an attempt to encourage Texas Baptists to think about their faith and stay true to Christ and our historic Baptist principles and practices.
