LETTERS OF APPRECIATION

July 7, 1997
Mt. Pleasant,

Texas Texas Baptists Committed
— Dear Sir:

After reading the last TBC newsletter, I surely do not want to be paying Patterson’s salary—not one cent.

Please tell me how I may send my monthly check to Truett Seminary as you take care of this first one.

The fine articles by such splendid writers fires me up. Oh, that our people would become informed and integrity demands a response, indeed. And how do I support Foreign Mission and not have my money interpreted as supporting fundamentalists—that hated word in the the real SBC as we once loved and supported?

Thanks,

A Christian—a real Baptist of 86 years,
Mrs. L. A. Kendrick

Editor’s note: Mrs. Kendrick is 96-years-old and has seen a lot in her lifetime—from her experience of riding in a covered wagon in Indian territory to seeing man walk on the moon!

Dear Dr. Currie,

I am sending an additional $25.00. It is impossible for me to attend meetings.

Age has taken over much sooner than I expected! I suppose one should expect it at age 77. I can and do still pray for the work of TBC! I read the newsletter as soon as I get in the house with it.

I purchased Mr. Baugh’s book and I wish every Baptist would read it and listen to what he is saying.

I ordered and have received Sacred Mandates of Conscience Interpretations of the Baptist Faith and Message. I have not read it yet. I suppose

I was just too close to the Frank Norris movement to appreciate all this. Even as an 8 or 9 year old, I still remember how they came in and split churches.

I will get off my soapbox because I know you have better things to do! I just want you to know that I will be praying for the BGCT Convention and grieving that I cannot be there. Hope to be able to send another contribution in 2 or 3 months.

Sincerely,
Lucy Bales
