Oneisphorian Internship Scholarship


I Timothy 1:16–18
“The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day— and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus.”


I. Qualifications

a. Born-again student at SEBTS
(preferably single)
b. A servant’s heart
c. Self-starter with creativity and ingenuity
d. Absolute confidentiality
e. Endurance
f. Ability to study in strange places
g. Loves dogs


II. Responsibilities


a. On call 24 hours a day; 7 days a week, 12 months a year (time off is worked
out with the President, but is not much)
b. Airport transfers for Dr. and Mrs. Patterson and sometimes others
c. Work with Mrs. Patterson on Patterson library
d. Keep up two autos
e. Maintaining book gift shelf in office
f. Occasional driving trips with President
g. Regular errands for the President
h. Familiarity with the Archives and the ability to search for materials
i. Preparation of care packages
j. Occasional backup for secretaries in President’s office
k. All unspecified gopher duties to ease strain on President
l. Southern Baptist Convention duty
m. Assist with trustee meetings, especially in caring for the trustees


III. Rewards


a. Few on earth, mostly in heaven
b. $5.50 per hour
c. Full scholarship
d. Opportunity to observe work of seminary and seminary president firsthand
e. Opportunity to meet great servants of Christ and observe their ministries
f. Frequent Q & A with President
g. Some travel
