A word of appreciation for Brent Beasley
By David R. Currie, Coordinator

Last Fall, Brent Beasley called our office and requested that he work with us to fulfill the requirements of Truett Seminary’s mentoring program. Hesitantly, I agreed. I say hesitantly because this office and this work is chaotic to say the least. I was not so sure I needed a “kid” around either here or in my home one night a week. Plus, I shared the concerns many others would have of my worthiness to “mentor” anyone.

What a delight Brent turned out to be. He worked hard, was eager to learn, brought his own thoughts and perspectives to the task, wrote excellent articles, gave valuable suggestions, and was an absolute joy to have around the office and in my home.

We tried to give him the full TBC experience. He not only stuffed envelopes, licked stamps, filed articles, edited newsletters, and wrote articles, but he helped shear sheep and baited out his first trotline! We like to think we gave him a “full educational experience.”

I am grateful for Truett Seminary and their foresight to include a mentoring experience in their educational model and am especially grateful to know that Baptists have young leaders like Brent Beasley being prepared for future leadership.
