TBC EXECUTIVE BOARD RECOGNIZES CURRIE’S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

David R. Currie, Coordinator for Texas Baptists Committed, was recognized by Jerold McBride for his ten years of service with Baptists Committed at the TBC annual breakfast in Austin on November 11. A love offering was collected from the TBC Executive Board to express appreciation for Dr. Currie’s faithful leadership. The gift is designated to purchase golf clubs and any additional recreational items, such as a hunting rifle.

Dr. Currie’s service began January 1, 1988, with Baptists Committed, which was then a national organization resisting the political take-over of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1990, Currie took a part-time position to start Texas Baptists Committed, later becoming full-time in 1992. Currie said, “I am surprised and grateful for the generous gift. I’m tempted purchase a bull for my ranch, but I understand and appreciate the encouragement for me to take time for recreation. My job has allowed me to work with the greatest people in all the world, the supporters of TBC. I am literally inspired by many of the pastors and lay people that help lead in this important ministry for the cause of the Kingdom of God.”
