Support The Baptist General Convention of Texas
By David R. Currie,
Coordinator

Traditional, mainstream Texas Baptists need to practice good stewardship once again and come to San Antonio November 13 -14, 1995, and support the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Texas Baptists have wonderful leaders, effective institutions, and progressive programs, and they need our support. Sadly, there are some Texas Baptists who do not like our leadership and the direction of the BGCT. These people have a right to their opinion.

Those of us who support the BGCT need to be in San Antonio to vote and protect our ministries and support our vision.

We need to be in San Antonio to support Texas 2000. This strategic plan is outlined by Mauriece Johnston on page 3 of this newsletter. It is a beautiful vision and a real challenge. Electing leadership with a different agenda will get us away from the vision of Texas 2000, just like electing new leadership in the SBC in 1979 got us away from Bold Mission Thrust, the SBC vision of taking the Gospel to every person on earth by the year 2000. Texas Baptists must not make the same mistake.

We need to be in San Antonio to support the budget recommended by our Administrative Committee and Executive Board which sets a priority of starting new churches in Texas to reach the tremendous number of unchurched people in Texas. The unchurched population of Texas is greater than the population of 42 states. We must support this budget for the sake of our lost fellow Texans.

We need to be in San Antonio to support the election of BGCT officers who believe in our state leadership and want to work with them in implementing Texas 2000. At this critical time in our state convention, we do not need leadership with a different agenda and who will be divisive.

If you believe in and support the leadership, ministry, purpose, and vision of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, be in San Antonio, November 13-14, 1995. It is important!
