SPEAKING OF NOT SUPPORTING MISSIONS

Did you notice in the Baptist Standard the list of the “Top 100 in total dollars to CP”? There were four churches on the list who gave less than 3% to the Cooperative Program. They were Second Baptist, Houston, 1.4%, whose pastor is current SBC president Ed Young: Champion Forest, Houston, 2.4%, whose pastor, Damon Shook, is past chair of the Southwestern Seminary Board and who voted to fire Dr. Dilday; Castle Hill, San Antonio, 2.9%, the church where they mail out the Fundamentalist magazine Baptists with a Mission; and FBC, Houston, 2.6%, which in the past has been a strong Cooperative Program church.

Friends, if Southern Baptists through the years had given like these churches, there would not be so many missionaries to worry about, or six seminaries, etc. The SBC would probably be half its current size.

As someone said regarding the firing of Dr. Dilday, “Fundamentalist money did not build this denomination, and now that they control it, they do not even know how to appreciate it. They are tearing it down and do not even feel bad about it.”
