WHO IS ACTING LIKE BAPTISTS?

At Texas Baptists Committed, we get tired of fundamentalist leaders trying to convince Texas Baptists that all of this disagreement is between the SBC and CBF. As far as we are concerned, relationships to other Baptist bodies is a local church issue, a question of autonomy. When messengers vote on issues and leaders at the BGCT, they are not voting either pro SBC or pro CBF. We hope they are voting “pro-Baptist principles.”

It does seem worth pointing out that when the CBF met in North Carolina in May they voted to send mission gifts wherever a local church directed those gifts, including SBC seminaries. When the SBC met in Florida in June they voted to not accept money sent by a local church unless it came through an approved channel or directly from that church.

It seems one part of the family is willing to respect the local church and one part of the family is not, for whatever that is worth. One is conducting its business like Baptists and one is not.
